Snowy Pines already breeds the healthiest, purest white labs — but now, we’ve expanded to include a close cousin of labradors and one of the country’s most popular dogs.
It’s time to meet America’s second-favorite dog: the golden retriever.
Descended from labrador retrievers from 1800s Newfoundland, golden retrievers are a unique breed that has captured America’s heart. Its subtype, the English cream golden retriever (also called the white golden retriever), is loyal, trainable, intelligent, and gentle, making them perfect for any family.
As part of the sporting family and gundog group, white golden retrievers were initially bred to find or retrieve wounded game (birds and rabbits) for their sport-hunting owners.
Today, English cream golden retrievers are described as intelligent and confident and, like English labs, are less energetic than their American counterparts. Golden retrievers are famous for their easy-going disposition, gentle personality, and mellow moods.
Snowy Pines White Labs is unlike any other breeder you’ll ever work with: Our dogs are always our priority and we aim to provide all of our English lab and English cream golden retriever puppies with individual attention. Other breeders can’t guarantee this, but we at Snowy Pines can and do — because we value our dogs’ lives and happiness over anything else.
The key to healthy and happy golden retriever puppies is parents that are treated the same. We select the most superior bloodlines and ensure an environment where our dogs can socialize and thrive for their whole lives. You can learn more about our puppy parents here, and you’ll see how easy it is to guarantee healthy puppies with the sweetest temperaments.
We are proud of what we do, so we’ve expanded to include the amazing English cream golden retriever in our family. We always allow in-person visits and stay in contact with the adoptive family for several weeks after taking home their new puppy. We want to ensure that both puppy and family are comfortable and happy so that they’re on the road to a great life together.
When you choose Snowy Pines White Labs, you get the happiest and healthiest english golden retriever puppies. If you’re looking to add a loving English cream golden retriever to your family, then look no further: We are experienced, dedicated, trained, and ready to answer any questions you may have.

Apply for Puppy AdoptionLabradors have been America’s favorite dog for the past 30 years—but the golden retriever is a close second. These two dogs don’t only look alike: They are close cousins and descend from a common ancestor, the St. John’s Water Dog.
The St. John’s Water Dog, also known as the lesser Newfoundland, originated in the Canadian province of Newfoundland in the late 18th century. Fishermen bred them for many years because they admired their hard work ethic and incredible swimming ability.
By the early 19th century, the Water Dog was exported from Newfoundland to England. Through years of experimenting with different breeds, the Water Dog became the sole ancestor of the most popular and beloved species today, including the golden retriever, the labrador retriever, and today’s gentle giant, the Newfoundland.
Today, the golden retriever appears as a sturdy, medium-sized, muscular dog that is well-known for its thick locks of gold. Its head—broader than the labrador’s—comes with short ears and a straight muzzle.
Its fluffy tail is constantly flowing and wagging happily, accompanied by a pleasant walk and movements. Some describe its gait as a “merry walk” which, in a nutshell, reflects the golden retriever’s personality as a whole.
Golden retrievers may sound like a single breed, but they’re split into two subtypes: American and English. American goldens and English goldens descended from English lines when imported from Canada, but the breed evolved and developed differently in America and Europe.
For example, English cream golden retrievers have a lighter, more white coat, a broader head, a stockier build, and a longer lifespan than their American counterparts. American golden retrievers are also more energetic and excitable than English cream golden retrievers.
But when did the golden retriever divide into American and English? You can trace it back to the late 1800s, after the labrador retriever was brought to Europe and began its import to the United States. Today’s English cream golden retrievers are descendants of the gun dogs bred by Lord Tweedmouth in Scotland.
In 1868, Lord Tweedmouth mated a yellow wavy-coated retriever named Nous with a Tweed Water spaniel (now extinct) named Belle. Lord Tweedmouth’s goal was to produce a more robust dog than any other retriever that would be gentle and trainable.
In 1903, English cream golden retrievers were accepted for registration by The Kennel Club, but under the name “Flat Coats: Golden.” A few years later in 1911, they were officially recognized as part of the Retriever family and then were given its full name: the Golden Retriever.
We know you probably have some questions about buying English cream golden retriever puppies—especially if you’ve never had one before. Here are answers to some common questions:
At Snowy Pines, our white golden retrievers cost $7,500 to $17,500 depending on the level of training each puppy completes. Our family has built our lives around raising the happiest, healthiest white golden retrievers in the world. We pour love, attention, and gentle training into each puppy that’s born here. We constantly shower their parents with love, too!
With our Snowy Pines Puppy University training program, your puppy can come home with up to three levels of training: beginner, advanced, and expert. Graduates from the advanced program receive their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certification. Graduates from the expert program receive the renowned AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and are fully potty trained to boot!
Best of all, each of our English cream golden retriever puppies is raised in a home-like environment. We prepare our dogs to fit into your family life from the moment their paws cross the threshold.
White golden retrievers aren’t actually white—and they’re not rare, either. We use the term white or English cream to describe the very light, white-looking color that’s officially labeled light-golden by the AKC.
You can rest assured that white golden retrievers are true golden retrievers. They’re simply a lighter color than the gold-colored retrievers that often represent the breed. If you ever see a breeder try to label white golden retrievers as rare, watch out!
White golden retrievers are actually incredibly popular and beloved for their calm and gentle demeanor. Because of this, many lucky pet parents experience the joy of owning golden retrievers as family dogs. They’re also smaller and less energetic than their American counterparts. Learn more about the differences between English vs. American golden retrievers here. You can also check out our golden retriever puppy growth chart for more information about how big your dog will grow.
No, English cream golden retrievers are not hypoallergenic. Like all dogs, they create and spread allergens through their hair, saliva, dander, and urine. That’s right, we said all dogs create allergens!
That’s because the truth is that no dog is truly hypoallergenic. Some may shed less frequently than others, but all dogs can cause allergic reactions in people who have dog allergies.
English golden retrievers shed frequently and love to kiss their humans’ faces. Regularly bathing and grooming golden retrievers can help, but if you are allergic to dogs, you may need to seek out an alternative pet. You can always admire golden retrievers from a distance!
Before golden retrievers were recognized as a subtype of the retriever breed, labradors became one of the most popular dogs in the world. Now that we know there is a difference in personality and appearance between English cream golden retrievers and English labs, the question is: “How exactly do you tell the difference?”
The best way to tell the difference between a labrador retriever and a golden retriever is its body shape: A labrador has a broad head with a short yet wide snout. Its coat is short, sleek, and typically only comes in white, beige, brown, or black. Golden retrievers have smaller heads, narrow and long snouts, and long fluffy and feathery coats in white, beige, red, and honey.
But in terms of personality, attitude, and overall temperament, what is it that sets golden retrievers apart from labrador retrievers?
Labradors and golden retreivers are obedient, loyal, and trainable dogs perfect for any family, but many experienced dog owners conclude that goldens are more sensitive than labs. Goldens tend to be gentle, soft, generally good-natured, and patient.
Learn more about the difference between golden and labrador retrievers.
It comes down to preference and which breed you think would work better for you and your family. But if you’re looking for an English cream golden retriever that is full of love, patience, and endless snuggles, be sure you get one from expert breeders who treat their dogs like their own family.
There’s a reason Snowy Pines White Labs is one of the leading breeders in the U.S.: We pride ourselves on being the best of the best by offering pedigree bloodlines and well-socialized, healthy puppies that come from a state-of-the-art facility with a complete replacement guarantee.
Snowy Pines is a family-owned and a certified professional breeder who has one goal: To continue the superior bloodline of white English Labrador retrievers and white or English cream golden retrievers.
We are certified by the American Kennel Club, the longest-running organization that verifies bloodlines and ethical breeding practices. We have been in business for nearly 20 years and have bred several generations of healthy dogs and puppies. Learn more about our certification and work with the AKC.
Our facility sits on a 120-acre plot of land in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. We are complete with several five-acre pens, training grounds/facility, veterinary services, and plenty of space to meet and play with prospective adoptive puppies. We encourage visitors to come and see how our facility operates.
Simply put, Snowy Pines is not like any other breeding operation. We are passionate and dedicated experts who genuinely love our English lab and English cream golden retriever puppies and will always treat them like family.
Snowy Pines doesn’t disappear just because you’ve taken home your new family member. We believe that our relationship goes far beyond after adoption which is why we’re always available for questions or concerns, even weeks after you’ve taken home your puppy.
We treat all of our white or English cream golden retrievers like our own from the minute they’re born to the second they leave. We love these English cream golden retriever puppies and like to be kept up-to-date with families who adopt and are always eager to walk them through everything before, during, and after the adoption process.
We will educate you on essential tips and tricks when caring for your new English cream golden retrievers to help make the transition from our home to yours as seamless as possible, such as:
We offer a complete replacement guarantee against genetic defects in our white or English cream golden retriever puppies for up to five years. Many breeders don’t offer a guarantee like this, but we’re so confident in our puppies that we have no issue offering this safeguard to our families.
The unique, individual interactions that our puppies receive set us apart from any other breeder. Our puppies are socialized with their littermates, parents, other puppies, and plenty of people including our family, staff, and anyone who decides to visit in person. All our puppies go through hundreds of hours of training in our world class training programs.
At Snowy Pines White Labs, this level of socialization is standard because we want all of our English golden retriever puppies to be accustomed to human interaction when it’s time to go home. Even after they’ve been adopted, they remain family to us. We’re here to answer questions and are more than happy to receive holiday cards from adoptive families.
Watch our Puppy Live Stream, and see just how playful, sweet, and well-cared for our retrievers truly are. No matter which puppy you choose, we guarantee three things: A calm temperament, a genetically true retriever, and white in color.
At Snowy Pines, we promote a calm temperament through constant socialization from the moment our golden retrievers are born to the day they’re brought home.
Golden retrievers were bred initially because of their calm temperaments, but English golden retrievers have an even more relaxed and more trainable personality than their American counterparts.
The English cream golden retriever is a true people-pleaser with intelligent, friendly, and devoted personalities, so they’re perfect for both new and seasoned dog owners alike.
Believe it or not, there is a difference between English and American golden retrievers in a healthy bloodline. Snowy Pines is dedicated to continuing genetically strong bloodlines which is why the AKC verifies every dam and sire as a purebred with certified genetics.
We have all the necessary paperwork on our dogs and puppies to prove their genetic bloodline upon request. We are more than happy to provide these certifications so that you know for a fact that you are getting a true English golden retriever.
There’s a reason why we’re called Snowy Pines: Producing genetically white retrievers is in our name because it’s what we do best. All of our English labs and English golden retrievers have distinctly beautiful white coats with dark black noses.
Occasionally, a puppy with a hint of cream around the ears or tails is born. These English cream golden retriever puppies are highly sought-after because of the rare touch of coloring, so if you are interested in a creamy-white retriever, let us know, and we would be happy to pair you up with the right one!
Not many breeders can say that their puppies roam freely in five-acre pens and the dogs have access to play hours on end on a 120-acre property nestled in the Ozark Mountains.
But we can.
We raise our white labs and white golden retriever puppies at our home and fully-functional facility in the Ozark Mountains. They can play and explore the endless creeks, ponds, pastures, and woods from the moment they’re born. They can constantly roam on their own or play alongside other dogs.
We always allow and encourage visitors. After undergoing a strict yet simple biosecurity program to ensure our dogs’ safety, you’re more than welcome to watch, interact, and play with any of our puppies and their parents.
At Snowy Pines, we’re thrilled to present you with three levels of training: Wagology 101, Wagology Honors, and Wagology Doctorate.
Wagology 101, an introductory course that covers the basics for your puppy to blend into your home, includes commands like “yes” and “no.” Wagology Honors, a step above the basics, covers more advanced behavior, lifestyle development skills and receives AKC STAR Puppy Certification. Wagology Doctorate is the most advanced and skilled course with the most professional service and support dogs experience.
Our first level of training, Wagology 101, consists of approximately 100 hours of basic behavior training and lifestyle development skills. Wagology 101 is a 2- to 3-week course that begins as soon as the white golden retriever puppy turns eight weeks old.
This course prepares every puppy with the basics, so it’s completely prepared to go home with its new family. Successful white golden retriever graduates will know basic commands like “yes, no, stay” and other conditionings like greeting without jumping, grooming introduction, crate introduction, and more.
Wagology Honors is the second level of training that offers more advanced training and conditioning than Wagology 101. It is an additional 2 to 3 weeks and includes approximately 200 hours of advanced behavior and lifestyle development skills.
Your English white retriever will learn complex commands and basic commands. Successful graduates will be masters at “yes, no, sit, stay” as well as “leave it, calm, loose leash walking,” and more. White golden retriever puppies are introduced to conditioning behaviors like vetting and complete grooming behaviors.
As the name implies, Wagology Doctorate is the highest and most advanced level of training that Snowy Pines offers. This program is known to produce some of the most trained and well-behaved retrievers in the world. All graduates are Canine Good Citizen Certified, a ten-skill program that instills confidence and good manners, which is necessary for most service dogs.
The Wagology Doctorate program is approximately 400 hours of lifestyle development skills training. It is everything from Wagology 101 and Wagology Honors plus more: One of the critical aspects of this level is that your white golden retriever will be completely house-trained and be trained in several more skills and conditions to ensure your puppy is 100% prepared to blend into its new home.
Snowy Pines is dedicated to providing the best white golden retrievers and customer service to all of our potential families, which is why we’re available at any time to answer any questions or concerns. You can call, email, or fill out our easy online form right away.
If you have more questions about our English cream golden retrievers, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d love to speak with you!
